Director of Senior Adult MinistryFollowing a 33-year career teaching physical education in the Athens City Schools, God opened an incredible door of service opportunity for Larry as the Director of Senior Adults at Eastanallee. Larry and his wife, Gwen, a former high school Language Arts teacher, have been a part of the Eastanallee family since 1999, serving as directors of youth choir, young adults and outdoor ministry. Larry views this staff position as an exciting new challenge of loving and serving the senior adults at Eastanallee Baptist Church.
Larry and Gwen have two grown children, Lindsey and Kevin. Lindsey and husband John live in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, where Lindsey works for the United States Army at Fort Knox. They welcomed the first Lane grandchild, Melody, in October of 2013. Kevin is the Executive Director of Coordinated Charities in Athens, Tennessee, and currently serves in our Eastanallee worship ensemble.
Their vision for serving senior adults is based on Isaiah 40:20 in which the prophet says, “Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these things, who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; Not One Is Missing.”
Just as God knows each star, He knows each of us and no one is missing! Our senior adults, a.k.a. Silver Stars, at Eastanallee are not missing! The Lanes look forward to involving everyone in fellowship, recreation, singing, traveling and ministry opportunities. Loving God, Loving Others!
